3rd Sunday of Great Lent: Sunday of the Veneration of the Cross

On the third Sunday of Great Lent we venerate the most Holy and life giving Cross of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This Sunday marks the mid point through Great Lent and is set as a reminder for each and every one of us to take up our own Cross and to follow Christ through death and Resurrection.
As man's fall occurred through eating of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, let us now continue our journey through lent and graft ourselves onto the Tree of Life, which is through the Cross of the Crucifixion of our Lord and Saviour.
Please find a links below for those interested in reading more about it.

2nd Sunday of Great Lent: St. Gregory of Palamas

For those interested in reading about the second week of great lent which is dedicated to St Gregory of Palamas please find the link below. St Gregory was a pillar of orthodoxy who opposed the heretic Barlamas and defended the Athonite monks during this persecution, later becoming a Bishop of Thessaloniki to lead his flock. I apologize for the late post, I was away this weekend and did not have access to the internet.

***News Update***

Hello all.

If you have been attending our meetings you will be aware that we were thinking of organising a day out to go pick some tasty berries while they are in season. Many of us remember the days when we used to go with our parents and run around like crazy children in the fields while our parents picked the majority of the berries. Well, now it's our turn to pick our fair share!

With the blessing of Fr Nicholas Karipoff we are going to a berry farm

The fortnightly MOYG youth meetings are back!

Greetings all MOYG members.

The fortnightly MOYG youth meetings are back!

Our next youth meeting will be held on the 8th of February at 4:30pm at the brunswick church hall where Fr Nicholas Karipoff will give a short talk and where youth can get together to socialise, play a little table tennis or billiards and discuss more ideas for upcoming events and activities.

This first meeting will also be used as a building block for discussions on future activities, and we will endeavour to make the most of the warmer weather while it lasts.

A group of about 5-6 members of MOYG have been active in these last few months and we have managed to make further progress with community involvement that we will fill you in on. We encourage more of you to join as within this involvement.

BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!

Regards

Your MOYG representatives
