3rd Sunday of Great Lent: Sunday of the Veneration of the Cross

On the third Sunday of Great Lent we venerate the most Holy and life giving Cross of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This Sunday marks the mid point through Great Lent and is set as a reminder for each and every one of us to take up our own Cross and to follow Christ through death and Resurrection.
As man's fall occurred through eating of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, let us now continue our journey through lent and graft ourselves onto the Tree of Life, which is through the Cross of the Crucifixion of our Lord and Saviour.

2nd Sunday of Great Lent: St. Gregory of Palamas

St Gregory was a pillar of orthodoxy who opposed the heretic Barlamas and defended the Athonite monks during this persecution, later becoming a Bishop of Thessaloniki to lead his flock.
